This year, I participated in a volunteer activity at an animal shelter. I always liked dogs, so I thought the work would be easy and enjoyable. However, there were many duties that I did not know before. I cleaned cages, prepared food, and walked several dogs outside. Some dogs were friendly, but others were afraid of new people. One small dog barked at me every time I came close. A worker explained that the dog had a bad experience with its previous owner. I moved slowly and gave it some snacks every day. After two weeks, the dog finally allowed me to touch its head. I was very happy about this change. The experience made me understand that animals also need time to trust people.
